It´s a tradition for the boys to get a Masai burn in their face when they come to certain age. If they cry when they are burn they are not worth it of being called masai. But anyways it´s a boys thing to go to Africa and wanted to get one of those. I mean, could there be a cooler suvenir.
So when I first arrive I was like: Yeah man I´m gonna get one of those. But then I heard it get infected and ugly and well, I get scared. So it was the third week and the new volunteers wanted to get one of those. I was like ok I´ll do it, then like: you know what that´s not my thing.
So we get to the volunteers house and Chantel said she was going to get one. Honestñy I didn´t wanted one because what if it get infected. But Chantel got two, the Josh two, then Harris got four and they said it hurt but that it didn´t hurt a lot. In the end I said: What the hell, you only live once, and I probably won´t come back here in a very long time. The name of the Masai guy is Saki and he really enjoys branding people. So I wanted to get three and as the first one touched me I just jump back. IT´S A HORRIBLE PAIN. But I couldn´t back out now, so I put some crazy eyes and I go for it. Three mark in the arm, it was painful, but worthin and I´m glad Harris talked me into doing this.
